Birthday Celebrations
Sometimes families like to do a little something at school with classmates for their child's birthday. Birthdays for the entire month are celebrated on one day. This is completely optional. During the month of your child's birthday, you will be sent a note listing the date and the number of students in the class. If you like, you may send in a treat for your child to share with the class.
Every food item sent to school must be store bought and in the original unopened packaging. This is a state, district and school mandate. No homemade goodies can be shared at school. This policy is in place for the safety of all students and will be strictly enforced.
Acceptable items include individually wrapped mini candy bars, twin wrapped treats that I can open and pass out, drink boxes. Please do not send in any hard candy/lollipops or extra chewy candy due to choking hazzard and loose teeth. If you have any questions about if an item is acceptable, please check with me before sending it in.
Cupcakes are a popular item. My recommendation, if you wish to send in cupcakes, is to purchase the mini ones. Often children eat the frosting first and then do not or cannot finish the whole cupcake. The cupcake "cakes"--in a shape--are cute. However, the amount of frosting used to create the shape and keep it is place creates a big mess for the children. That kind of treat is best for home.
